Today, head of Instagram, Adam Mosseri announced a bunch of different but equally awesome changes over on Twitter. Let’s go over them one by one.
The first one is the launch of support for the dark mode in iOS 13 and Android 10. Starting today, you can experience Instagram in a way that’s much easier on the eyes, especially during your midnight scrolls. If you turn your operating system settings to dark mode, your Instagram app will change from its white and colorful appearance to battery-saving and easier-on-the-eyes dark mode.
That’s only if you change your phone settings to dark mode. You can’t change your Instagram app to dark mode internally right now.
The second one is a feature that helps people identify phishing emails. If you don’t know what those are, they are emails from hackers pretending to be some trusted website to gain your username and password and other important information.
Psyched about this, phishing is an issue that affects a lot of people and glad we’re making it easier to be careful. https://t.co/9UhFfRwNm1

The feature Instagram has introduced shows you all the emails that the company has sent you. This way, if you don’t see an email from Instagram that you have received in your inbox from ‘Instagram’, you can be sure that it’s a phishing email.
This is a great feature because phishing emails are becoming more and more sophisticated nowadays and it’s very hard to tell the real ones from the fake one. So, be sure to utilize this feature as it rolls out.
The third one is the Create mode which ‘helps you combine interactive stickers, drawings, and text without needing a photo or video to share’. Isn’t that amazing?
Another feature that’s part of the Create mode is the On This Day option. It shows you a previous feed post that you made in the past on the same day. You can tap the dice icon to see a different ‘On This Post’ and if you find the one you’d like to share again, you can embed it in a Story. People can open the post by tapping on it. This is Instagram making the nostalgia trend officially a part of Instagram.
Not to mention that Instagram has killed the Following tab as well. All in all, this is a pretty active week in terms of Instagram updates. All these features will start to roll out today and become available to all the Instagram users in over a week.
