Ever wonder what makes an Instagram celebrity so popular that their followers are dying to know what they had for breakfast, what they decided to wear for the day and how their love life is going? They want to know about every single minute detail about their celebrity. They hang on to their every word and value their opinions. Do you ever think to yourself that you can actually do better than those celebrity and that your views are much more meaningful but very few people actually listen to you?

It’s time to change that. You can also become an internet celebrity and make money while also furthering your brand. Here are 5 tried and true steps that can help you make it happen but only if you follow them and persevere.

1- Choose Your Niche:

What you need to avoid is trying to become a jack of all trades. If you talk about anything and everything that crosses your mind or affects your lifestyle, you are going to end up followed by very few people who will be interested in your one post while completely uninterested in your next one. You don’t want that kind of audience, do you?

Well, a good way to rectify this would be to choose a high ranking niche that you are very passionate about. Then, when you talk about different topics in that niche, it will look like you know what you are talking about. Your passion will shine through your posts and people who are also passionate about your niche will start following you. This way, you will build an audience which is passionate about your posts. Their contributions will be meaningful and you will actually enjoy connecting with people who share the same interests as you.

2- Collaborations:

Collaborations happen when you team up with the influencers in your niche so that you can expand your audience. You can actually get the understanding of this process by looking at YouTube collaborations. Usually, they go something like this: two YouTubers get together and create two videos together. Both of those YouTubers get to share one of the two videos on their channel and encourage their audience to watch the other video they did together on the other YouTuber’s channel. This way, both of them get to share their audiences and they acquire new followers from the other YouTuber’s audience as a result.

You can have a mutually beneficial relationship with the influencer in your field so that both of you can cross promote each other’s content on a regular basis. Influencer marketing is a great way to expand your audience.

3- Be Unique:

Since internet has been around for a long time and people have been sharing their opinions over it, chances are that what you want to share with your audience has already been said in one way or another. Your job is to search the internet about the topic you want to share a post about and see how other people have done it. Then, you need to figure out a way to make your post unique and more interesting than the other ones.

Don’t just repeat what has been said over and over again. Make yourself stand out so that people should want to follow you because you are different than the rest.

4- Seem Bigger Than You Are:

If you are just starting out, you probably won’t be an influencer for a couple of years. But that doesn’t mean that you can’t talk like one. Ever hear the saying, “Fake it, till you make it”? You need to take that saying to heart. IF you exude success, people will think you are successful. It’s all about mind games.

Research how the influencers in your field talk and post and then behave like an influencer yourself. Tag brands, get them to share your content if you happen to know good influencers and talk about them like you know them even if you don’t. Make yourself look larger than you are and eventually, you will become an influencer yourself.

5- Follow the Trends:

I’m sure you’ve seen some challenges going around the internet like ‘The Ice Bucket Challenge’, ‘What’s in My Mouth Challenge’, ‘The Worst YouTubers I’ve ever Met’ etc. You need to follow such trends. Every niche has these trends going on and if you participate in them, you will gain traction in the search results. You will get traffic because of them and who knows? Maybe you will acquire some new followers as well.

Start following these steps on a regular basis. Even if you don’t see immediate results, I guarantee you that you will begin to see results if you persevere.
