Twitter Makes Direct Messaging More Dynamic than ever!
Yesterday, Twitter announced a very important update regarding its Direct Messaging feature. To compete with its more recent rival in the messaging world aka an upgraded version of iMessage in iOS 10, Twitter upgraded its messaging as well.
Twitter announced this update via a tweet:
New! Direct Messages are more dynamic than ever with read receipts, typing indicators, and web link previews. pic.twitter.com/VEU92V5Gqj

The more recent changes in the updated Direct Messaging are as follows:
- Now there are typing indicators which will let you know if the person you are talking to is typing a reply.
- There are also ‘read receipts’ feature as well, which can be both good and annoying, depending on who you are talking to. But there is also a choice of opting out of this if you don’t want people to know that you have read their messages. This will also hide if other people have read you messages, as it works both ways.
- Lastly, there is the feature of inline rich preview. This will show a quick preview of the link you send or receive in your direct messages.
These features are nothing new in the messaging world, but Twitter had lacked these features up until now. With the dropping of 140 character limit last year and now these new updates, the direct messaging feature of Twitter is finally getting the attention it deserves in order for it to stay afloat.
