How to Target the Right Audience for Your Brand

There is a certain thing that you need to understand before you start selling your product or services across social media platforms. That is knowing which demographic of people to target your ads and attention. For example, the best audience for targeting your anti-aging product ads would be men and women over the age of 25. The younger people don’t need those. Similarly, you can’t target adults for child fiction books. You see what I mean?
There is a specific audience out there that will be best for your brand. You just need to find out what that is and then focus your content marketing efforts accordingly. Don’t generalize your content for everyone. Even if your product is for everyone, it may not have the same use for a 70 year old woman as it does for a 30 year old. In that case, you design different ads that are targeted at different age groups. But none of that can happen if you don’t recognize the target audience for your brand.
In this post, I’m going to tell you exactly what you need to do in order to find your target audience.
1- Understanding Your Brand:
You need to focus on what exactly it is that your brand does and how it is changing people’s lives. If your brand has multiple products or services, figure out which people would go for each of them separately and then gather that data in an organized fashion. Now, as you study that data, you will notice that certain products are for certain type of people and the other products are designed for an entirely different class of people.
As you figure that out, you will begin to see clues about your target audiences.
2- Estimating the Needs of Your Target Audience:
Once you’ve figured out which people to target for your products, you need to figure out how to persuade them to buy from your brand. You need to think from their point of view. If you’re not sure how to it, you can always ask someone (similar to the people you want target) in your family or social circle about what they look for in your product and then create your ad based on that. This is the best way to get into the minds of your target audience and see from their point of view.
3- Locating Your Target Audience on Social Media:
In social media marketing, one thing to keep in mind is that not all the people are on each and every single one of social media platforms. Since each social media network is different form the other, the people who use those platforms are different too. For example, people you would see on Snap will be mostly below 30. Facebook is an all-rounder but it has older people more than it has younger people. You need to figure out the platform where most of your target audiences can be found. This way, you will save a lot of time and money that would have otherwise been wasted on useless ads.
4- Utilizing all the Filter Tools:
Each social media platform has a set of filter tools which allows you to narrow down your target audience as much as possible. This will make sure that your ads are falling in front of the right eyes so that you can get the desired results. These filters usually include age, gender, geographic location and interests etc. So make sure that you use them to their full potential.
5- Analyze Your Results:
As you target your audience through ads, one thing you must do is find out how those ads are being received. Are they generating leads, as you hoped or are they being ignored? If they are not getting you the results that you had hoped for, you should make some changes in your ad campaigns. Keep repeating this process until you find the right ad campaign.
