Instagram Copies Snapchat Yet Again – Now With Polly
Ever since Snapchat refused to be bought by Facebook, Instagram has been undergoing major transformation. Every now and then newer features are introduced on the platform that are almost the exact copy of Snapchat but a bit of a spruced up version.
In the last few weeks, a third party app called Polly has been the ongoing trend for teens. They can connect this app with their Snapchat stories and ask their Snapchat friends to vote on polls that they create. It has been a growing trend for Snapchat but now it may not remain that way.
Today, Instagram announced that it has added the polls feature to the Stories.
Today we’re introducing an interactive poll sticker in Instagram Stories that lets you ask a question and see results from your friends and followers as they vote.
Whether you’re trying to plan tomorrow’s outfit, choosing which class to take or figuring out where to go for dinner, now it’s easy to share a two-option poll right in your story. After you’ve taken a photo or video for your story, select the “poll” sticker and place it anywhere you’d like — you can write out your own question and even customize the poll choices.
Users can create their own questions with a default voting option of ‘Yes’ and ‘No’ which their followers can then tap to vote. You can edit those options to whatever you want them to say. As soon as your friends vote, they will get to see the answers. You can see which person voted which option in your Stories view count page.
This could take your Instagram engagement level to a whole new level because it adds a more interactive user experience instead of just rapidly scrolling through.
There is another update to the Instagram app. There is a new eye dropper tool added which will help you make your text match the color of your photo. Also, it’s easier to level and center text or stickers on your photo.
All these new updates show exactly how serious Instagram is to staying at the top of its game. The news of addition of polling feature may not be exactly pleasing for Snapchat or Polly but it has the potential to turn out great for Instagram.
