Facebook Is Testing Out Résumé Feature Called ‘Work Histories’
Facebook is testing out a LinkedIn like résumé/CV under the name ‘Work Histories’ in the mobile apps of selective Facebook users. The option was first observed by a developer named Jane Manchun Wong and it was shared by The Next Web with the screenshots.
A few months ago, LinkedIn changed its design which was inspired by Facebook’s user friendly interface. But it seems like Facebook wanted to incorporate some things from LinkedIn as well. The new feature will give users the option to share their work experience with the ability to display the precise date they started working at a company, their position and the exact date they stopped working there. If they currently work at a company, they can check the option of ‘I currently work here’.
They can showcase their experience and education. Facebook confirmed this test as well but whether the feature will be available to all Facebook users is currently unknown.
“At Facebook, we’re always building and testing new products and services. We’re currently testing a work histories feature to continue to help people find and businesses hire for jobs on Facebook.”
The detailed work histories will not be shown on the user’s public profile. This could further lead on to the option that it will show to potential talent seekers, but we can’t be sure.
The feature is reported to be seen by some of the users in the U.S. and that’s to be expected because Facebook usually rolls out new updates to the U.S. users first.
The idea behind the new feature seems to be to aid people in acquiring jobs within the platform so that they don’t need to turn to LinkedIn. That may come true in the future if this test runs smoothly for users and gets good results.
