Facebook Now Lets You Capture 360 Photos In-App
While Facebook keeps encouraging people to post 360 photos and supports the format, the majority of the people don’t actually have the means to post these photos. 360 photos require a certain tech-savvy mind and specific equipment for it work. So, Facebook decided to facilitate its users in this aspect.
As of today, Facebook is offering 360 photo feature in its camera for both the Android and the iOS users. Using it seems to be pretty simple and Facebook explained it really well.
- Open the Facebook app and click the ‘360 Photo’ option from the top of your News Feed where you update your status
- Press the blue button and follow the path from start to finish until you’ve taken a complete panorama
- Select your preferred ‘starting view’ within the photo and share
These photos work the same way as the normal photos in the sense that you tag your friends and you can also zoom in. This will encourage more and more people to post 360 photos. According to Facebook, 70 million 360 photos have already been posted on Facebook. That number is bound to increase more rapidly now that Facebook is giving everyone the option of capturing 360 photos.
Another update that Facebook made today is that you can now use the 360 photos as your cover photo as well. You already have the option to use video as a cover for your profile and this option just adds another reason for people to be creative about their Facebook cover photos.
While only personal profiles can add 360 photos cover photos, this can change any time in future because that’s how Facebook works. It tests out a possibility and if it works, it offers it to all the masses. This is a great step in terms of visual marketing as it will open up more opportunities for brands to post more creative content even if they don’t have professional equipment.
