How To Create A Like Page On Facebook

By Alex Neil Posted Sep 08, 2014 in Facebook Marketing/ Social Media News

There have probably been countless articles on this particular topic already because of almost everyone being on Facebook. Perhaps, there is not a single person who does not know how to create a Facebook page but not everyone knows all there is to know about creating a Facebook like page.

So, I will be dissecting this topic step by step in detail and by the end of this article, everyone (whether they are new to Facebook or a pro) will know how to do it effectively so that they leave a mark on their audience.

Step By Step Demonstration:

First of all you have to sign up on Facebook if you don’t already have an account. It’s free and always will be. Once you have done that, you will see a downward arrow on the top right corner of your browser. Click it for a drop down menu. First on the list will be “Create Page” option, click it.

1-Choose A Category:

A new page will open which will show six categories with super cute icons. These categories are:

  1. Local Business or Place
  2. Company, Organization or Institution
  3. Brand or Product
  4. Artist, Band or Public Figure
  5. Entertainment
  6. Cause or Community

By clicking anyone of these, you will be shown a form that you have to fill. You will have to choose a category and give a name for your page except for the Local Business or Place category. You are asked to fill out your address and contact information if you choose Local Business or Place.

Keep in mind that once you choose a category and name for your page, there is no going back. Choose wisely so that you do not have to start all over again.

2-Profile Picture:

The profile picture for your Facebook page is very important as it will appear every time you comment on some post and beside the post that you made. It is ideal if the profile picture is the logo your brand or company because it will let people know instantly who you are even if they don’t read your name.

The dimensions of your profile picture are 180×180, which will shrink into 125×125. Make a great and interesting profile picture and upload it. You can change it any time you want if you want to upload another profile picture.

3-About Section:

About section is where you will tell your visitors what your page is all about. The description of your page will actually show up on your page timeline just below your page name. Make it about 3 to 4 lines long and unique. It will help people decide whether or not they should like your page. So, think about it carefully and write your page description in such a way that it sounds unique and encourages people to like your page. You can change it in the future any time you fell like making it appear even better.

Fill out the other details in your About page too but they will be visible to viewers only if they literally click on your About tab on you page. Also, if you have a website/blog about you brand or company, make sure that you add its URL in your About section too. This will help people in finding you outside of Facebook and help in increasing your website/blog audience.

4-Cover Photo:

Cover photo is the header of your Facebook Page and it is really important that it is interesting. It can be about your company services, your brand logo or you can make it funny by incorporating fun facts about your field of business. It will take a huge space on top of your timeline so make it really tempting to people. You can change it anytime you want in the future.

5-Create Content:

Once you have created your Facebook page, it is tempting to just start inviting people to your page. That is not a wise approach considering the fact that they will be seeing an empty page if they visit. So, first step is to create at least more than a dozen posts and fill your page the way you would your blog.

Once you are satisfied that you have enough content on your page to start inviting people to your page, do it while still make posts regularly. Do not stop making posts because if you do, you will seem non serious about your aim.

6-Handle Permissions:

You can change permission on your page according to your liking. Default permissions for a Facbook page are decent but if you want to change something, feel free to do it. For example, you can choose if you want people sending messages to your page inbox. If you choose to opt out of it, make sure you give your visitors some email address or other means through which they can contact you.

When you are creating a Facebook page the possibilities are endless. You can add Applications, customize tabs, do whatever you want because it is your own little world in which you rule. Be interactive with your page members and keep your page interesting to attract more likes. You can also use Facebook ads for a little extra public reach and make your page more popular.
