Carousel Ads Will Soon Be Coming to Instagram Stories
Ads are the main source of revenue generation for social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, etc. And that’s why these platforms are constantly incorporating new ad formats in their different features. Instagram Stories are no different.
Since the introduction of ads in Instagram stories less than a year ago, the company has been trying out different ads in the feature that have proven to be successful in other areas of the platform. One of those successful ad formats is Carousel ads.
Instagram has announced that it plans to incorporate carousel ads in the Stories to help advertisers market their brand more efficiently. With this new addition, advertisers will be able to include three pieces of media in their Instagram Stories ads, instead of just one piece of media (photo or video).
Director of Product Marketing, Susan Rose, said that users can already use this feature in normal Stories and it seemed the logical next step to extend this feature to advertisers as well.
“It’s a feature that was requested from businesses and advertisers, given the power that they’ve seen through organic stories with multiple pieces of content,”
The number three is just a starting point according to her and that means that if the need arises in the future, you can expect to see more than three photos or videos in these ads.
The reason why Stories ads are getting a new format is that Stories are quickly becoming the preferred mode of sharing according to statistical evidence.
“The growth of Stories will have an impact on how we build products and think about our business, including WhatsApp and Instagram, which are the number one and number two most-used Stories products in the world.” Said Facebook SEO, Mark Zuckerberg.
For now, Instagram is testing this ad format with just a few advertisers including Coca-Cola, Gap, Renault, and Paramount. If these tests prove to be successful, the feature will be rolled out more globally.
