Aside from garment shopping, people mostly prefer to shop online because they don’t have to browse different stores and put in a lot of effort. They would rather click ‘purchase’ from the comfort of their own homes.
So, needless to stay, with this much popularity of online shopping, online businesses are here to stay. But while many businesses figure out how to thrive on their own, for a lot of brands, it’s a constant struggle. They face a lot of failures in their journey to a successful online business. 1- You Are Not Investing in Social Media Ads:
Nothing in this world comes totally free of cost. If you want a business that generates a sizable revenue with a lot of profit, you need to invest some money for marketing it.
You don’t need to go for expensive ways to market your business like TV and print media if you don’t have a large business. You could simply look for social media ads. Almost every social media platform (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc.) has its own ad campaigns. You could go with the cheapest package or a more expensive one. But either way, you need to invest in these ads so that your brand could get the recognition it deserves.
If you just rely on organic reach of these platforms, your brand awareness will not increase as much as you had hoped.
2- You Need to Update Your Marketing Strategies:
While social media is a great way to market your business online, it’s not the only way. You can market your brand across blogs and websites by placing paid ads. You could also build an email address list of your followers and target them through email marketing. You can also build your own website that showcases your products or services and promote it through SEO and guest blogging.
If you just look for them, you will find that there are a lot of possibilities when it comes to marketing your business online. Find out the best ones for your brand and utilize them to their maximum potential.
3- You Are Copying Others Too Much:
While it’s normal that you would want follow the footsteps of the influencers in your niche, too much of it can actually hurt your brand. Do check out what your influencers are doing and figure out how they approach their clients but don’t copy them too much.
A healthier approach would be to figure out what they are offering their customers and then try to make your products or services better or more unique so that your brand can stand out among your competitors.
4- You Are Not Analyzing Your Marketing Data:
Don’t just keep firing arrows and not see where they are striking. You need to constantly monitor how your marketing efforts are being received by your audience. This way, if they don’t like something, you will instantly know it and then you can change that according to your audience’s preferences. Also, if you find that something is working for your brand, you can keep doing it that way or in a better way.
Marketing analysis is all about figuring out what works for your brand and what doesn’t. In the end, we are all catering to our consumers’ needs, right?
5- You Are Spreading Yourself Really Thin:
As your business is starting out, it’s often tempting to use each and every marketing channel at your disposal. But what you should do instead is start simple and then add things as your business grows. Handling too many things right from the start may slow you down because you will not be spending your time on more productive tasks for your brand.
Take social media platforms for example. At first, you should only use one of the bigger platforms (Facebook, Twitter or Instagram) that best suits your brand needs. Then, as you go along and your business grows, you can start to add in more in your social media marketing strategies. The key is to take one step at a time and when you master it, only then move on to the next one.
