With holiday season just around the corner and 2017 coming to an end, you need to prepare yourself for the next year in advance. If you have been in the social media marketing game for a while, you must know that you need to constantly adapt your campaigns and strategies to follow the latest trends and updates. This year was no different.
There were a lot of changes and updates on all the social media platforms that continued to evolve throughout the year. Those trends will be even bigger in the following year and you need to prepare your brand marketing strategy in accordance to them. After all, in the game of social media marketing, if you don’t take advantage of the latest trends, your competitors will. You don’t want that, do you?
So, here are the foreseeable trends that will be a big deal in 2018 that you need to start focusing on right now if you want to stay ahead.
1- Chat Bots:
Chat bots were a big hit in 2017 and will continue to thrive in 2018 as well. If you are already using them in your marketing strategies then good for you. But if you are one of the many brands that don’t know how they work and their benefits, you need to get to know your way around them immediately.
Basically, chat bots are your round the clock customer service assistants. If you are a large company, you probably have a dedicated team that takes care of customer service 24/7. But if you are a small company, you can’t always answer your customer’s queries instantly. That’s where chat bots come in. Almost all the social media platforms offer them for free and you can create an automated response that feels personal and engaging so that your customer can rest easy that their issue will be resolved as soon as possible. But you need to take action soon after that. The sooner, the better.
2- Entirely Mobile-Focused Marketing Strategy:
Okay, let’s break it down. Most of the people use Twitter on their mobile devices. Rarely any Instagram or Snapchat user turns to desktop websites to use the platform. Around 84 percent of Facebook advertisement revenue comes from its mobile app. Do you get the picture?
You need to improvise your social media marketing strategies to focus on mobile devices. People already have their phones in their hands, so give them a good call to action that makes them buy your products or services on the spot. People tend to make impulsive decisions when they see a really persuasive ad of an interesting product, even if it may damage their budget. So, take advantage of this and give people a reason to spend their money on your brand.
3- Don’t Underestimate Platforms because of Similarity:
Yes, Facebook has pretty much copied every Snapchat feature and now Instagram, Facebook and Snapchat, all have almost the same features. But one thing that they are majorly different at is the user demographic. Snapchat is favored by mostly teens and young adults while Instagram has become the place for millennials. While Facebook has users of all ages, it is mostly used by older people.
So, while it may seem like all of these platforms have similar features, you can’t just skip any of them because of similarity unless your brand has a certain age group that it caters to.
4- Video Marketing and Live Videos:
This was the most featured trend of 2017 and will probably stay that way in the next year as well. Facebook, Instagram and YouTube have evolved a lot in the past couple of years because video marketing gathers the most engagement. If you do it the right way, video marketing is the best investment that you can make for your brand.
If you are marketing your brand on Instagram or Snapchat, the importance of video marketing take a whole new level. Both of these platforms’ best features are heavily video based and the sooner you learn how to tread the waters, the better off your brand will be.
